Playa Rosa

Playa Rosa is a simulated seaside landscape integrating a public services hub into federally funded transporation infrastructure. The proposal replaces a deteriorating “big box” retail center with  pedestrian-oriented development that exploits the site’s proximity to light rail and responds to low rates of car-ownership in the neighborhood. The project hybridizes infrastructural programs typically constructed in isolation, such as power generation, stormwater collection, and transit stations, with community services intended to address the documented health inequities of surrounding neighborhoods. I was responsible for developing and refining the massing strategy, preparing a digital model with site context, and producing presentation diagrams.
